Assistant Professor of Statistics and Data Science

Department of Statistics and Analytical Sciences

 

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure track Assistant Professor of Statistics and Data Science faculty position in the Department of Statistics and Analytical Sciences that begins in August 2021.

 

The candidate will be expected to teach a broad range of courses in applied statistics and data science at the undergraduate and graduate levels (specific courses may include, but are not limited to, time series, six sigma, applied categorical data analysis, and experimental design). The candidate will also be expected to engage in scholarly research, pursue external funding to support their research, and potentially participate in applied consulting project-based work.

Contribution to service activities within the department, college, university, Analytics and Data Science Institute, and professional community is also an expectation.

 

Qualified applicants will: 1) have earned a Ph.D. from an accredited university, or its

foreign equivalent, in Statistics, Analytics and Data Science, or a closely related discipline; 2) demonstrate effective teaching in their area of expertise; 3) be proficient in at least one analytical programming language (e.g., SAS, R, Python, or other similar); and 4) have strong communication skills with a diverse audience of academics and practitioners.

 

Ideal candidates will mentor undergraduate and graduate students in a research context and serve on dissertation committees. Candidates will be expected to work in a highly collaborative, fast- paced, interdisciplinary environment with students and faculty from across the university as well as with collaborative partners from outside of the university.
