Oberlin College and Conservatory invites applications for a full-time, three-year faculty position in the Department of Musicology, beginning July 1, 2021.
The Oberlin College Conservatory of Music, founded in 1865, is the nation’s oldest continuously operating conservatory, and the only major music school in the country linked with a preeminent liberal arts college. Students are enrolled in undergraduate programs leading to the Bachelor of Music in performance, composition, music history, historical performance, electronic and computer music, and jazz studies.

Oberlin College and Conservatory invites applications for a full-time, three-year position in the Department of Musicology, beginning July 1, 2021, with research interests in music of the late eighteenth or the nineteenth century. Additionally, a broad methodological approach that complements current departmental offerings and extends to areas such as ethnomusicology, disability, de-colonial, sound, or queer studies is desirable.
The teaching assignment for the position will likely include period survey courses (Classic and Romantic Eras), advanced seminars, courses for students in the College of Arts and Sciences, and introductory courses for conservatory students.
Candidates with a willingness to engage with a diverse student population that includes multiple language groups are especially encouraged to apply.
Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in musicology
• Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching
