Florida State College at Jacksonville invites applications for an Associate Vice President of Finance (AVP). The AVP of Finance provides leadership and guidance for all financial aspects of the College. The AVP evaluates existing systems and plans, develops and implements modifications and/or new procedures relating to the financial operations of the College and is accountable for all outcomes by ensuring proper legal and regulatory compliance. The AVP is responsible for accounting and financial analysis and reporting functions within the College; supervises finance, accounting and payroll staff and ensures that the organization's financial statements adhere to generally accepted accounting principles. As a financial services executive, the AVP also oversees tax reporting activities, and ensures that College actions and activities abide by all Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the State of Florida requirements. The AVP is also responsible for developing standards, policies and procedures relating to the financial operations of the College in conjunction with the Vice President for Business Services, and ensuring proper legal and regulatory compliance. The AVP is responsible for ensuring that the College financial reports are accurate and completed on time.

 

The selected candidate at a minimum will possess a master's degree in accounting, business, or related field from an accredited institution, and ten (10) years of related experience, including five (5) years in a supervisory role.  Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business with fifteen (15) years of experience may be substituted for a master’s degree. Additionally, the preferred candidate will have a master’s degree in accounting or related field; a Certified Public Accountant license and extensive experience in higher education accounting and finance; and demonstrated competency in accounting and financial statement preparation.
