The Associate Director of Online Learning provides strategic leadership that helps foster the Miami experience through online and innovative learning. This position lives at the exciting intersection of learning design, learning media, learning innovation, and a variety of student services and promotes their effective integration into teaching and learning. Reporting to Director of Digital Learning, this new position was established to help support the growing teams, units, and efforts of the office. This position will be responsible for supporting eLearning in the building of nationally recognized online and innovative learning programs that serve students with a transformational learning experience. This leader will actively collaborate with the Director of Digital Learning in building the future of learning innovation at Miami University.

Duties of the position include and are not limited to: Fostering collaborative leadership to develop online and innovative learning; Leading effective, high-quality learning design; Promoting learning strategy and innovation; Supporting effective online and innovative learning student services; Assisting with unit leadership.

Required: Master’s degree and 5 or more years of progressive leadership experience within an online learning unit or similar area; Demonstrated experience with online course design, development, and delivery, and designing and/or managing distance education and/or online courses within higher education; Demonstrated experience working with faculty to create, adopt and adapt innovative and high impact teaching practices; Demonstrated experience with current and emerging instructional technologies within higher education; Ability to effectively communicate and interact with others to accomplish goals; Demonstrated staff, organization, and project management skills; Organizational skills and ability to pay attention to detail.  This position is not eligible for H1B sponsorship.

Considerations may be given to candidates with Master’s degree (or higher) in instructional design, educational technology, higher education, or another education-related field and have 3 years of supervisory experience; Experience in working collaboratively and proactively in a large decentralized institution and familiarity with change management methods and tools; Experience managing budgets and making financial projections; Successful management of teams and employees; Ability to work with multiple partners and relationships while managing the prioritization of competing requests in a deadline-driven environment.
