Position Summary:

The Technician at CERN for the University of Wisconsin-Madison Physics department, provides technical experience building detectors, wiring harnesses, maintenance and repairs of electronics boards, etc., in a large experiment, working alongside faculty, postdocs and students. The candidate should have experience using computers and basic programming.

This position will be stationed at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland area.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor Degree in physics, engineering, or related. MS preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience building detectors, wiring harnesses, maintenance and repairs of electronics boards, etc., in a large high energy physics experiment.

Ability to communicate in French with technical personnel at CERN is also strongly preferred.

Additional Information:

This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding.
