Teaching Assistant Professor - Department of Forensic & Investigative Science
The Department of Forensic and Investigative Science at West Virginia University invites applications for a Teaching Assistant Professor position beginning in August 2021. This is a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure track position with full benefits and the opportunity for promotion. Teaching Assistant Professor appointments have renewable terms of up to three years, with no limit on the number of terms. The position requires teaching and institutional service. There is no traditional research assignment. Summer teaching for additional compensation may be available.The successful candidate will (a) teach multiple sections of undergraduate crime scene investigation/reconstruction courses and supervise the associated laboratory sections; (b) teach applied forensic science skills in at least three of the following courses: firearms and toolmarks/shooting reconstruction, death investigation, expert testimony, latent fingerprints, biological evidence, or bloodstain pattern analysis; and (c) develop other courses within the candidate's area of specialization, based upon departmental needs.
The Department consists of 5 tenured and tenure-track faculty, 6 teaching faculty, about 30 graduate students in our M.S. and Ph.D. programs, and about 600 undergraduate majors. Further information be found at the Department website: https://forensics.wvu.edu/

The position requires a Master's degree or equivalent degree in forensic science or a closely related field and significant professional experience, ability for developing and effectively teaching undergraduate courses (including laboratory courses) in the areas described above, a commitment to student-centered learning, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a willingness to use instructional technologies.
