A.T. Still University's Arizona School of Health Sciences (ATSU-ASHS), Department of Occupational Therapy invites applications for a mid-career faculty and program director position at the associate professor or professor rank for the accredited residential MSOT and OTD programs. The Occupational Therapy entry-level programs at A. T. Still University are residential programs and require relocation to Arizona. The entire curriculum is delivered face-to-face. The program director is responsible for the management and administration of the program, including planning, evaluation, budgeting, selection of faculty and staff, maintenance of accreditation, and commitment to strategies for professional development.

The individual will work closely with the chair on revisions of program policies, admissions, academic progress and graduation competencies. The program director is accountable for implementing strategic plan initiatives concerning the program and ensure compliance with federal, state, ACOTE and university policies.

The program director is responsible for the development and maintenance of effective department operations including efficient workflow; assessing and reporting to chair, on program evaluation metrics, such as faculty workload and scholarly productivity, student satisfaction, graduation rates, enrollments, etc. to assure program goals are being met. Fosters a department culture of collegiality and cooperation; conducts student recruiting information sessions; ensures faculty support for the attainment of department outcomes; manages faculty concerns pertaining to operations and students. Responsible for the direction and supervision of core faculty to ensure effective job performance.

The program director will carry a reduced teaching workload; meet teaching, scholarship and service goals required of faculty scholarly, as identified in annual professional development plan. Work collaboratively and assist chair in managing department operations, including developing annual budget and expenses for teaching-related supplies and equipment. May be required to perform other duties and responsibilities that chair may deem necessary from time to time.

Desired qualifications: Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, scholarship and administration, in an institution of higher education. Exceptional leadership, communication and management skills; Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, and to interact effectively with colleagues, administrators and faculty members and students, as well as external constituencies. Advanced certifications and specialty expertise will be an asset. The ideal candidate will be eligible for the rank of Associate professor.

Requirements:

The program director must hold a doctoral degree (PhD preferred in any related field, including biomedical sciences) or a post-professional occupational therapy doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by an institutional accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). Must have a minimum of 8 years of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy; this experience must include clinical practice as an occupational therapist, administrative experience, scholarship, and at least 3 years of experience in a full-time academic appointment. Must be initially certified as an occupational therapist, and eligible for Arizona license.
