Desirable areas of expertise include early literacy, early STEM learning, early childhood curriculum evaluation, early childhood assessment, school readiness, high quality childcare, or other specializations or research areas in early care and education.

Successful candidates also will support the department’s initiatives in distance education with online instruction. The early childhood education program in The Department of Human Development and Family Studies strives to honor children by preparing teacher candidates to engage in reflective practice as well as developmentally effective, culturally responsive, and constructivist pedagogies. Faculty are encouraged to collaborate with teacher candidates, local early childhood programs and settings, and our campus and community partners in early childhood development, learning, and intervention. Research, scholarly activity, and service are required performance criteria determining the potential for tenure and promotion.
