Position Summary:
The Senior Auditor performs confidential and complex financial, operational, and compliance audits to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of systems, processes, and controls. The incumbent may also conduct investigations of suspected irregular conduct. Such audits and investigations will be achieved by assessing risks and identifying audit objectives and scope for each review, developing audit programs, performing interviews and test work, developing clear and concise audit work papers to support findings and recommendations, and communicating the results of audit projects via written reports and oral presentations to management.


Minimum Education:
•Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting field.
•Master’s degree is preferred.


Minimum Experience:
•Two years of professional auditing experience is required.

•Knowledge of University and/or Public auditing policies, standards, and procedures.
•Knowledge of court processes and legal documentation requirements
•Knowledge of current changes and/or developments in applicable federal, state, local laws, and university policies and procedures.
•Ability to effectively communicate accounting information, policies, and/or procedures in a manner easily understood by the customer.
•Familiarity with automated financial systems (e.g., Ellucian Banner) and the ability to access and utilize data from those applications.
•Spreadsheet and word processing software (MS Office) skills, as well as data analysis software (e.g., IDEA,ACL)skills to quantify, analyze, and illustrate routine financial reports, comparisons, impacts, and/or projections.
•High professional standards with the ability to handle confidential information.
•Advanced knowledge of the theories and principles of auditing, accounting, and investigations.
•Strong critical thinking, research, analytical, and active listening skills.
•Proven ability to work effectively, either independently or in a team setting, on multiple projects at the same time. Flexibility and the ability to change priorities quickly are often required.
•Ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships with a diverse population at all levels within the University community.
