As a result of sustained growth in the Residential Construction sector, CCEE seeks to fill the full-time non-tenure track faculty teaching position at the Lecturer II level to begin in the fall semester 2021. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the Department’s strategic focus on sustainable infrastructure.
Candidates must have an earned Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management. Alternatively, the candidate could have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management and a Master’s degree in engineering or a related discipline such as architecture, management or planning.
Preferred qualifications for the position are a minimum of 5 years of US construction experience, with an emphasis in the residential construction industry, and teaching experience, or the demonstrable ability to teach, in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management. Areas of interest for this position include, but are not limited to principles of residential construction and design, engineering statics, mechanics of materials, structural analysis, CAD, structures for construction managers, temporary support structures, scheduling and, estimating. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to work with undergraduate students, and interact with members of the local construction community with specific emphasis on residential construction. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
The successful candidate is expected to teach up to 3 courses each semester (spring and fall) in the areas listed above and take an active role in advising the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Student Chapter. Courses will primarily be at the undergraduate level, but depending on education and qualifications, may also be at the graduate level. The salary for this 9-month contract, renewable annually, will be competitive, and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
