The Department of Health and Nutritional Sciences (HNS) in the College of Education and Human Sciences is inviting applications for a 9-month, full-time, benefits-eligible, tenure-track position with rank of Assistant Professor in Nutrition.  This position is supervised by the department head of Health and Nutritional Sciences, and the appointment date is August 2021.

The role of this faculty member will be to teach courses in the undergraduate Nutrition and Dietetics program as well as the graduate Nutrition and Exercise Science programs in the department. The successful candidate will establish an independent, externally funded research program, mentor student research, and participate in service responsibilities at the university and national levels. Applications are encouraged from individuals whose research focus will complement the research mission of the department in nutrition, sport and exercise interventions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Commitment to excellence in undergraduate Nutrition and Dietetics and graduate program in Nutrition and Exercise Science.
  • Teach graduate and undergraduate classes consistent with program.
  • Conduct a focused line of scholarly activity in human
  • Applying for and obtaining external funding for scholarly activities.
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Provide professional service and leadership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctoral degree in Nutrition, Exercise Physiology, or closely related field completed by the date of application.
  • Sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Demonstrated contribution to nutrition and/or sport and exercise science research.
  • Record of research publications and grantsmanship proportionate with experience.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Teaching experience in higher education.
    • Registered Dietitian.
    • Post-doctoral experience specific to research.
    • Record of involvement in internally and/or externally funded grants.
    • Evidence of professional service.
    • Research interest aligned with federal (NIHor NIFA, FFAR, etc.) nutrition and health research priorities.
