CSUN’s highly regarded CSUN Department of Cinema and Television Arts is seeking an Assistant Professor with expertise in motion picture editing.
You would teach intermediate and advanced courses in motion picture editing as well as courses in film and episodic television production. In addition to teaching, the position requires advising duties, including mentoring and advising students working on advanced level production projects, advising students on academic matters, participating in departmental activities such as portfolio review and senior showcase, and interfacing with the entertainment industry and related organizations. Teaching may be assigned in a secondary area of expertise. Reappointment, tenure, and promotion, emphasis will be placed on teaching effectiveness, scholarly and creative achievement, and service to the University and community. Faculty members are expected to contribute professionally at the state and national levels.
- M.F.A. in Cinema-Television or related field from an accredited institution required at the time of hire.
- Professional experience in motion picture editing required. Membership in professional editing organizations desired.
- Evidence of successful teaching experience in motion picture editing required. Proficiency with Avid editing platform required. Avid Media Composer Instructor Certification required within six (6) months of employment.
- Ability to teach film and television episodic production coursework at the university or college level desired.
- Demonstrated experience working with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus and/or professional community required.
At time of appointment, the successful candidate, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to work in the United States.
All appointments are subject to Provost’s approval and budget considerations.
