The University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine Department of Radiation Oncology, invites applications for an Assistant Professor Research track faculty member in radiation biology who will complement and expand growing programs in translational and basic research.  Current areas of exploration include molecular effects of proton radiotherapy, immune effects of radiation therapy, quantitative phase imaging microscopy and mechanisms of radioresistance.

The University of Cincinnati (UC), College of Medicine Radiation Oncology Research Division, along with UC Health, are leaders in basic, translational, and clinical cancer research and cancer treatment (https://med.uc.edu/depart/radiation-oncology/home).  Access to core facilities, startup funds, and to both a XenX irradiator, as well as proton beam radiation are available. Faculty laboratories are located in the Vontz Center for Molecular Studies, designed by famed architect Frank Gehry, in close proximity to the UC Medical Center and UC College of Medicine.

The selected candidate will work in collaboration with the University of Cincinnati Cancer Center (UCCC) and the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC), as well as the UC Health/CCHMC Proton Therapy Center.

This position will participate in the larger mission of teaching UC graduate students, UC Medical Center medical residents, and post-doctoral fellows. The position will require teaching of radiobiology to residents in Radiation Oncology, as well as participation in teaching and mentorship of graduate students and post-doctoral fellows within the laboratory. Topics will include proton therapy, immunotherapy, and DNA damage and repair pathways.

Minimum Requirements:
Prior to the effective date of appointment, candidate must have all of the following: a doctoral degree (PhD) in Immunology, Radiation Biology, or a closely related field; a completed four (4) year post-PhD research fellowship in Oncology; and a minimum of ten (10) peer-reviewed publications in Oncology. A minimum of three (3) years working with proton beam as it pertains to Radiobiology is also required, which could have been part of one’s post-PhD fellowship, PhD research, or a combination of both.
