Managing Director

The Charles A. Dana Center at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications and nominations for the position of Managing Director. The staff of the Dana Center seek an innovative, strategic, and highly regarded professional to serve as their next Managing Director, with the proven experience and passion to lead a prominent STEM education research center to realize its ever-growing potential.

For more than 20 years, the Charles A. Dana Center has worked to ensure all students—particularly in minoritized populations—have equitable access to excellent math and science education. With more than 65 team members, the Dana Center works with educators, administrators, policymakers, and other partners to dismantle barriers in education systems while creating and scaling the types of math and science education innovations that support student success.

Working closely with the Executive Director, the Managing Director both leads and manages the day-to-day operations of the Dana Center and the team of professionals who carry out its work. Key responsibilities include: securing necessary and sustainable funding from multiple sources through foundation relations and grant writing; building and maintaining relationships with senior university leaders, the leaders of national K12 and higher education associations and policy makers; ensuring effective, high-quality service delivery and the achievement of outcomes; supporting the Executive Director in increasing the overall visibility of the Dana Center; and working to ensure coherence across the Center in terms of culture, expectations, norms, and outcomes, including establishing accountability and vision for an equitable workplace.

The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree or higher, and a minimum of 7+ years demonstrated leadership experience. In addition, the ideal candidate will have a proven record of accomplishments in the education field (experience with STEM education preferred), budgetary management and fiscal planning, development and grant writing skills, well-developed and effective communication skills, an inclusive leadership style with demonstrated effectiveness working in and promoting a diverse, inclusive, and equitable environment, past leadership of institutional changes in establishing equitable experiences and outcomes for employees, and a commitment to ensuring the success of minoritized students in K-16 math and science education.
