Position Overview:

Lecturer provides a quality learning experience for students. Lecturer faculty performs instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. The relationship of the Lecturer faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning.

College/Department Overview:

The College of Mathematics and Science currently has 135 full-time and over 70 part-time faculty in 7 academic departments. The College serves more than 3,200 undergraduate students in 27 majors and provides graduate programs in Biology, Applied Mathematical Science, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Computational Science, Computer Science, Engineering Physics, and Nursing. Accreditation/Certification is held by ABET, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the American Board of Funeral Service Education, and the American Chemical Society. Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

Duties include teaching day/evening courses in Microbiology and Cell Biology Laboratory, and coordination of the Cell Biology Laboratory. Teaching responsibilities might also include other courses depending on the candidate's expertise and departmental need. The candidate must be willing to teach courses in a variety of delivery formats (face-to-face, hybrid, and online as needed).

Qualifications

Experience Required:

An earned Master's degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Experience Preferred:

Master's degree in Biology (or related field) is required. Higher education teaching experience in Microbiology and/or Cell Biology is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Reports to the Chair of the Department and the Dean of the College.
