Job Summary

The Videographer/Editor is a part-time, 25 hour/week position who is responsible for operating cameras in the college's television studio as well as on location, utilizing video production tools such as cameras, tripods, microphones and lights. The Videographer/Editor is responsible for editing video, editing audio, incorporating graphics, and the delivery of different formats to different platforms. This position takes part in multi-camera studio and remote productions, including operation of cameras, audio mixers, character generators, camera control units and video switchers. They will manage their project from pre-production through final delivery.

CAMERA OPERATION FOR STUDIO AND REMOTE PRODUCTIONS – The Videographer/Editor will set up cameras, tripods, microphones and lights in the television studio and on location, and record interviews, b-roll, presentations, and events. The Videographer/Editor will adhere to industry standards of video production, including technical components such as appropriate iris, gain, white balance and audio levels, and aesthetic components such as composition. The Videographer/Editor will plan and communicate in ways that result in successful recordings.

VIDEO EDITING – The Videographer/Editor will edit video with appropriate incorporation of music, transitions, effects, branding and pacing. The Videographer/Editor will edit multiple audio tracks to optimize sound quality from event recordings with different audio sources. The Videographer/Editor will ensure that video editing is in line with industry standards of video production related to audio levels, video and color levels, and delivery formats. The Videographer/Editor will perform basic troubleshooting using the tools of the editing software and online resources. The Videographer/Editor will complete projects efficiently and on-time, while adhering to industry standards of practice.

SUPPORT FOR MULTI-CAMERA PRODUCTIONS – The Videographer/Editor will operate studio and remote audio mixers, studio camera control units, a character generator and/or a video switcher.

MANAGE AND PRODUCE PROJECTS AND WORKFLOWS – The Videographer/Editor will understand the purpose of the project and reach agreement with the client regarding scope, will communicate appropriately with the team and stakeholders throughout all phases of project, will track work on the department project tracker, and will coordinate assigned projects to achieve successful results. The Videographer/Editor will correctly label and back up footage with agreed upon naming conventions, and will track, store, archive and delete media appropriately.

The Video Services Department at JCCC consists of two groups – Video Production and Video Engineering. The Video Production team provides studio and remote productions, single and multiple camera recordings, editing, and publishing of video content. The Video Engineering team supports the Production Team, the campus digital signage system, the healthcare simulation system, the college cable channel, and several peer groups and venues on campus. The Video Services department is part of the Academic Support Division and is recognized as critical to supporting student satisfaction and retention, and student success.

Required Qualifications

High-school diploma
One year of professional video production experience
Experience with all aspects of studio and remote production setup and operation, including cameras, tripods, microphones and lighting
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a diverse college community
environment
Ability to work a flexible schedule that can include evening and occasional weekend productions
Ability to work on campus and/or work remotely if needed, including editing using a personal computer and remotely using a workstation using a virtual private network (VPN).
Experience using Adobe Premiere and Photoshop
Solid foundation in video production
Knowledge of industry production standards
Able to communicate with clients and peers
Ability to understand project workflow from the planning phase through completion of each production
Collaborative mindset

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's degree
Three years of professional video production experience
Experience with a wide variety of video formats, including broadcast, social and digital media
