An exciting postdoctoral position is available immediately in Dr. Mark Moehle’s lab in the Department of Pharmacology and Center for Translational Research in Neurodegeneration at the University of Florida. Our research aims to identify the physiological, circuitry, and behavioral changes underlying the motor and non-motor symptoms of movement disorders and to leverage these discoveries into new therapeutic strategies. Currently, we have several projects including 1) Understanding cortical dysfunction in Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s Disease related dementia 2) Identifying basal ganglia dysfunction in novel models of GNAL linked dystonia 3) Modulating cerebellar function through muscarinic modulation in normal and pathological states.

We routinely utilize mouse established and novel models of these CNS disorders, and routinely use a number of state-of-the-art techniques to address our questions in these models. These techniques include ex vivo electrophysiology, fiber photometry, optical neuroscience, behavioral analysis, and single cell analysis, as well as standard biochemical, molecular, and viral techniques.
