Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Geospatial Cybersecurity (Daytona Beach Campus)



The Department of Security Studies and International Affairs (SSIA) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, FL., invites candidates to apply for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in geospatial cybersecurity. The successful candidate should have experience in one or more of the domains related to computer and network technologies, cybersecurity tools and incident response, cybersecurity of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), digital forensics, cybercrime, social impacts of cyberspace, and aviation cybersecurity of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). The successful candidate will contribute to SSIA’s interdisciplinary Homeland Security program, which includes such areas as human factors, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), risk management, and organizational management. In addition, the person will support the department, college, and campus in such areas as data analytics, intelligence, and UAS and help the department to integrate more technology into the existing Homeland Security and Global Conflict Studies undergraduate degree programs. Primary tasks include undergraduate teaching and research, student advising, and relationship building with external organizations and agencies. The position requires teaching flexibility in order to cover a variety of courses in cybersecurity, digital forensics, and cybercrime space. Other essential duties include scholarship, professional development, committee participation, and other activities designed to support the Security Studies & International Affairs Department. This is a nine-month position with the possibility of summer teaching assignments.

Qualifications :

An earned doctorate in a cybersecurity-related discipline such as Computer Science, Cybersecurity Engineering, Geographic Information Security Management; a proven track record of course development in geographic information systems. Possession of at least one relevant vendor-independent industry certification (e.g., CISSP, CCE, or GIAC); and experience with the NSF or NSA/DHS CAE-CDE programs. Grant experience (successful grant proposals and/or PI experience particularly relevant) will be considered as a plus. Must possess a demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the underlying technologies and protocols involved in geospatial cybersecurity, as well as those used to attack and defend geospatial cyber assets. Must have knowledge of technical as well as policy and procedural aspects of cybersecurity. Position available August 2021.

An exceptional candidate who is ABD (with an expected completion date within six months of the hire date) will be considered.
