Job Description:

The Department of Marketing at Fairfield University invites applications for an Assistant Professor/Instructor of the Practice of Business Communications position in the Dolan School of Business to begin Fall 2021. This is a non-tenure track, full time, fixed term, renewable position. Candidates must be able to teach in the area of Messaging and Persuasion, covering topics related to effective communication in all areas of business. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of various business communication strategies, such as how to use the main forms of business messages (e.g., press releases, memos, social media), how to determine the appropriate tone and style for a message, and how to write a persuasive message and proposal, among others. Candidates that can also teach in multiple areas of marketing are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates should show a commitment to innovation and demonstrated excellence in using technology in the classroom.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching four courses each semester at the undergraduate level. Teaching assignments may require teaching day, evening, face-to-face, hybrid and online. The candidate may also need to teach graduate level courses.
  • Advising students and providing career guidance.
  • Contributing to course, curriculum, and program development.
  • Providing service to the department, the Dolan School of Business, the university, and the community at-large as necessary and appropriate.
  • Keeping the department and school current on industry practices and innovation.


Qualifications :

Candidates, at minimum, must have an M.S. or M.B.A in business or related field from an accredited institution and a minimum of 5 years of marketing professional experience. Preference may be given to candidates who have completed or are in the process of completing a PhD or DBA in Marketing.
