Academic Programs Marketing Manager
George Mason University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) seeks qualified candidates for the position of Academic Programs Marketing Manager. Responsibilities:
The Academic Programs
Marketing Manager is responsible for collaborating with the
academic units of CVPA to recommend and develop marketing
strategies, and work with the marketing team to implement those
strategies to increase awareness and enrollment in CVPA programs,
awareness and visibility of the college’s faculty, alumni, and
students, and ticket sales and attendance for CVPA events.
Specific duties:
- Recommend, create, and implement marketing strategies to increase CVPA’s visibility of, and enrollment and retention in, academic programs and classes;
- Promote CVPA student and faculty performances, exhibitions, and events in order to increase attendance and ticket sales;
- Increase visibility of the arts (and CVPA) on Mason’s Northern Virginia campuses, including awareness of and participation in the free student ticket program at Mason’s performing arts centers, galleries, and film venues;
- In collaboration with appropriate CVPA staff, ensure that printed materials and digital assets are developed and maintained effectively;
- Serve as primary marketing contact for all CVPA academic units;
- Secure the necessary information and materials for inclusion in CVPA-produced marketing initiatives, both traditional and digital;
- Serve as primary contact for news items and publicity opportunities for CVPA faculty, alumni, and students;
- Coordinate promotion of CVPA work and accomplishments in print and online publications, including inclusion in website and social media content;
- Write and edit copy and content for print and digital communications as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Significant professional experience in marketing or equivalent in education, arts, or related experience;
- Demonstrated success at executing branding and marketing campaigns;
- Excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills;
- Demonstrated success at developing and implementing marketing strategies;
- Familiarity with basic office software and marketing and design procedures;
- Excellent communications skills including writing and editing at a high level;
- Project management experience including coordination with staff from multiple departments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related area or equivalent experience;
- Excellent communications skills including writing and editing at a high level;
- Knowledge of and/or previous experience in the arts in higher education;
- Experience in enrollment marketing;
- Experience in events marketing;
- Proficiency in social media platforms;
- Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite proficiency;
- Knowledge of the arts and/or arts education landscape as it relates to visual art, performing arts, film, game design, and arts management.
