Behavioral & Population Sciences

The University of Alabama at Birmingham The Department of Clinical & Community Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), School of Dentistry, invites applicants for a full-time, research-intensive, tenure-track faculty position in clinical research.

Position responsibilities predominantly include research in a patient-oriented research discipline. Candidates will spend some of their time participating in the department’s clinical and teaching missions, but the position’s main focus is to develop a research program in clinical research that also includes practice-based research and population-based research. The Department comprises two divisions and is the national administrative site for the National Dental Practice-Based Research Network (http://NationalDentalPBRN.org).

Applicants must have a dental degree and have advanced training in public health and/or clinical research, preferably with an MPH or PhD or equivalent degree. Experience in directly providing care in a United States practice setting (private practice or academic) is preferred, but not required. Candidates are expected to attract external research funding over time. Participation in intramural faculty practice is available for persons with Alabama licensure. Excellent written and verbal English skills are required. The faculty appointment will be in the Division of Behavioral & Population Sciences. The search will begin immediately and will end when the position is filled. A pre-employment background investigation is performed on candidates selected for employment.
