Would you like to work with a team that is dedicated to changing lives? Do you enjoy engaging others around an institution you are passionate about?

Goucher College invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Data Science.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in the mathematical and computational foundations of data science with a Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field. Goucher's Integrative Data Analytics (IDA) program also offers data science specializations in Economics and mathematical sciences. The teaching load is five courses per year (20 credits) with a focus on foundational courses such as statistics, machine learning, and linear algebra. Ongoing scholarly research and service to the College are expected. Candidates must have a clearly articulated research program in Data Science that includes undergraduate research opportunities.

Goucher College recently received a grant from the Maryland Department of Commerce's E-Nnovation program to support this endowed professorship in IDA, assist in growing the new program, and helping to further develop the College's Data Analytics graduation requirement. The IDA program includes interdisciplinary specializations, which give both students and faculty opportunities to collaborate with other disciplines in classroom, internships, and research projects. Faculty are encouraged to discuss potential collaborations across disciplines and in an entrepreneurial spirit with local organizations and external partners.

Goucher College endeavors to be a model teaching and learning community where faculty and students are engaged with one another in learning both inside and outside of the traditional classroom. Teaching is paramount. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to students from diverse backgrounds and a dedication to engaged pedagogies that support equity and student success.
