Job Title: Coordinator, Residential Life

Division: Enrollment Management and Student Engagement

Evaluation Group: Staff

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Starting Salary: $17.20 per hour

Reports To: Associate Director, Residential Life

Positions Supervised: Student Employee Positions

Job Summary

The coordinator for residential life is responsible for overseeing the housing assignment process, as well as marketing, social media content and public relations (PR) website publications. This position will also support department operations by assisting in data entry, budget preparation and reporting.

Job Responsibilities

  • Processes room assignments in accordance with university housing policies
  • Verifies accuracy of database housing assignments and billing records, making updates as needed
  • Maintains student application processes
  • Participates in resident check-in and checkout processes, coordinating schedules with appropriate parties
  • Maintains all Residential Life webpages and oversees department social media, marketing and advertising


Service Orientation

  • Responds to the needs of students, colleagues and community members in a timely and courteous manner
  • Anticipates customer needs and responds accordingly, providing referrals as appropriate
  • Offers individualized solutions with the objective of helping colleagues overcome obstacles and achieve their goals


Communication, Collaboration and Teamwork

  • Communicates housing assignment and room change procedures to students and parents
  • Establishes publishing schedule for Residential Life newsletters and assists in promoting departmental events
  • Mentors students in navigating difficult conversations and situations
  • Creates relevant and original content for Residential Life promotional material and communication platforms
  • Serves as main contact for outside printing and design vendors


Planning, Organizing and Accountability

  • Maintains office supply inventory
  • Verifies student compliance with housing requirements
  • Generates weekly detailed capacity and occupancy reports
  • Assists in billing management and maintenance of business records
  • Ensures proper training and accurate and timely completion of student employees tasks


Initiative, Problem Solving and Decision Making

  • Develops and implements social media marketing plan

Required Qualifications –An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in housing/residential life field
  • Master’s degree in student personnel, higher education, education, counseling, communications or related field preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Strong analytical, technological and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of developmental and social issues experienced by college students
  • Knowledge of facilities management
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Proficiency with StarRez housing software and Workday
  • Proficient in use of technology; working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe applications and social media platforms
  • Ability to foster and maintain working relationships
  • Ability to problem solve, use good judgment and think critically

  • General office setting
  • Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA)
