Assistant Professor of Studio Art of Sculpture (Tenure Track)-Department of Studio Art, Middlebury College, MIDDLEBURY, VT --
The Program in Studio Art invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Sculpture for Fall 2021. The successful candidate will be expected to teach four classes from intro thru advanced including the possibility of teaching the Advanced Studio Thesis class; two of these classes are to be cross listed with Black Studies. To this end, candidates should be an artist whose work is centered on sculpture as a contemporary practice, possesses extensive and demonstrable skills with traditional 3-D processes, has fluency with the material culture of the African Diaspora, as well as interest in areas such as (but not limited to): installation, video, audio, performance, hybrid, and emerging art forms.

Candidates should provide evidence of commitment to excellent teaching and scholarly potential. Applicant must have an active exhibition record, as well as engagement with contemporary dialog in the discipline. Candidate must be an artist who is able to participate in a vibrant, cross-disciplinary studio program within a liberal arts environment, and be able to demonstrate their ability to deliver studio art content relating to a broad constituency across the College's curriculum. The successful applicant will contribute regularly to the college-wide curriculum, including winter term, first-year seminars, senior work, be expected to oversee the sculpture facilities, guide student independent thesis work, contribute to our visiting artist lecture series, and participate in college-wide committees.
