Assistant Teaching Professor - Physics, Division of Physical Sciences

The University of Washington Bothell (UWB) seeks dynamic physics educators to join the Physical Sciences Division of the School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). We invite applicants for one or more full-time (100%) Assistant Teaching Professor positions for a 9-month service period with opportunities to teach during the summer. Appointments are for up to five years, renewable, and are not tenure eligible. The start date is September 16, 2021.                                                                  

The primary responsibilities of this position are teaching, mentoring undergraduates, and service. The successful candidate is expected to engage in modern pedagogy, engage students in undergraduate research, contribute to UW Bothell’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and work enthusiastically in an inclusive and interdisciplinary culture of learning.  More information about our Physics program is available here https://www.uwb.edu/physics.

The School is housed in several buildings on a vibrant campus collocated on a restored 100-acre wetland with an active salmon stream, including the 74,000 square-foot Discovery Hall teaching and laboratory facility, with a new 77,000 square-foot STEM building in collaboration with Cascadia College opening in Fall 2023.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements for the position include:

• A Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in physics or closely related field
• Familiarity with modern teaching methods in physics
