About the Opportunity:
The newly created Assistant Director of First Year Programs & Student Engagement in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences is responsible for overall implementation and coordination of programming for new students at Khoury. In addition, this role will have oversight of undergraduate student organizations, the student advisory board, and will coordinate shared programming for Khoury students with campus partners to support a diverse student body. Reporting to the Associate Director of Academic Advising, the Assistant Director serves as a strong support person for the undergraduate academic advising team and will collaborate with the Khoury undergraduate leadership team. It is critical that the Assistant Director works to foster a welcoming, nurturing and belonging environment for all students, including those underrepresented in the computer sciences.

Responsibilities:
Provides guidance to and facilitates the first-year experience programs including orientations, belonging campaigns, Khoury Kickoff events, presentations and other outreach programs for first year students. Research best practices and make recommendations for improvements to programs to increase student retention.

Collaborate with offices across campus to facilitate interaction, cooperation and coordinated educational and social programming between student organizations and student services while enhancing the educational and social programming for all Khoury students.

Oversee all Khoury-affiliated undergraduate student groups, collaborate with partners in Student Affairs to ensure groups are following appropriate policies and procedures. Manage regular meetings of student group leadership. Collaborate with the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Experience and Education in managing the Student Advisory board.

Teach one section of CS1200 First Year Experience course. Contribute to evaluation and design of curriculum goals and learning outcomes. Collaborate with team members to develop syllabi, in-class activities, and coordination of guest speakers. Grade all material submitted by students, keeping attendance records and issuing final grades.

Qualifications:
Master's degree in Counseling, Higher Education or related field

3-5 years relevant experience working with diverse student populations
