The Department of Counseling, Recreation, and School Psychology
at Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for
a nine-month, full-time, open rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full)
Clinical Professor position in Counselor Education with
expertise in Rehabilitation Counseling beginning August
2021.
Qualifications: Earned doctorate ( Ph. D., Rh. D. or Ed. D.) in
Rehabilitation Counseling or Counselor Education or other closely
related discipline from an accredited institution (or
equivalent). Preferred Education Accreditation: Doctorate
from a CORE/CACREP accredited institution; strong professional
identity as a rehabilitation counselor; evidence of commitment to
the profession of counseling (e.g., appropriate
certifications, leadership in counseling organizations,
successful clinical experience, publication in refereed counseling
journals); strong evidence of effective and diverse university
teaching experience. The successful candidate must have an
ability to use technology as a teaching tool and will have
demonstrated the ability to teach and work meaningfully with
persons from culturally-rich and linguistically-diverse
backgrounds. For an appointment to Clinical Associate
Professor, candidates must demonstrate a strong record of
excellence in teaching at the university level, professional
service, and a record of scholarly research and publication
commensurate with level of experience. Applicants nearing
completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered; however, for
appointment, the requirements for doctorate must be completed by
August, 2021.
Responsibilities: Teaching, advising, supervising practicum and
internship students; serving on departmental, college and
university committees; providing service to the university and
community; conducting scholarly presentations at professional
counseling conferences; working closely with program, departmental,
and university partners to continually improve the program.
Preferred Experience: Ability to effectively establish and maintain
community partnerships; active involvement in professional
rehabilitation and related organizations; expertise in forensic
rehabilitation; knowledge of accreditation, program planning, and
evaluation; possess CRC or be CRC eligible.
The Counselor Education program within the Department of
Counseling, Recreation, and School Psychology is CACREP-accredited
and offers the Master of Science degree program with tracks in
School Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and
Rehabilitation Counseling. The department also houses
graduate programs in School Psychology, and Recreation and Sports
Management. Opportunities for cross-disciplinary teaching,
