The University of Windsor invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean, Faculty of Engineering.

The University of Windsor is a comprehensive, student-focused university with more than 16,000 students across nine Faculties. The Faculty of Engineering - ranked 14th across Canada and 7th in Ontario by the 2021 World University Rankings - is home to more than 1,500 undergraduate and over 1,900 graduate students, supported and inspired by 125 faculty and staff committed to principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. The Faculty through its three academic departments - Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical, Automotive and Materials Engineering - offers a wide array of technical expertise and accredited graduate and undergraduate degree programs, including a dual degree program with Politecnico di Torino in Italy and a program specifically designed for students transferring from technical colleges. These programs, coupled with extensive research initiatives, as well as co-op and industrial internship opportunities, means that students experience a high-quality and stimulating education that fosters creativity, critical and entrepreneurial thinking, and an experiential and life-long learning orientation. The Faculty’s Ed Lumley Centre for Engineering Innovation - a 300,000 square foot world-class, purpose-built facility - further promotes the development of new research avenues and cross-disciplinary partnerships, and is a catalyst for joint industry/university research projects and opportunities for students to explore connections between education, research, and industrial innovation. The University is seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial leader to bring innovation and inspiration to the Faculty of Engineering at a time when faculty, staff, and students are keen to reach even greater levels of excellence. Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering will be appointable at a senior professorial rank and will have a broad understanding of, and appreciation for, the range of scholarship within the Faculty. The Dean will effectively manage resources, oversee academic administration, program development and experiential learning opportunities, and encourage world-leading research and interdisciplinary collaboration. The Dean will have an earned doctorate in an engineering discipline, eligibility to be licensed as a professional engineer in Ontario; a strong record of administrative and academic achievements; and a significant profile within the engineering community. The Dean will be an engaging leader who will encourage collegiality and collaboration, foster strong and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, promote interdisciplinary initiatives, and empower the highly productive and committed group of faculty, staff, and students that can be found in the Faculty of Engineering. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of consultative and decisive leadership, be an excellent communicator and motivator, and a champion for matters of equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. The appointment of the Dean is for five years, renewable, and is expected to commence July 1, 2021.
