Position Title:             Assistant/Associate Professor of Mathematics – Tenure Track

Department:                Mathematics 

Position Status:           Full-Time, Tenure Track Appointment

Directly Reports To:   Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science

Classification:             Exempt

 

Catawba College (“Catawba”) welcomes applications for the position of a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Mathematics beginning August, 2021. Applicants for this position should have a Ph.D. in mathematics or statistics; however, Catawba will consider ABD candidates. The area of specialization is open, but Catawba will give preference to those with experience in statistics and/or data science.

 

Catawba is a private, liberal-arts institution located in Salisbury, North Carolina, equidistant from Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and Charlotte. Catawba enrolls approximately 1300 students from 36 states and 19 countries, and has a student-faculty ratio of 13:1. This position requires teaching four (4) courses each semester and regular contributions to Catawba through faculty service appointments, as well as continuing scholarship, broadly defined, and professional development. The ideal candidate will desire to shape Catawba’s community and culture through active participation in campus life beyond the classroom as a colleague and campus leader. In addition, opportunities exist for faculty to develop courses for Catawba College’s Honors Program and/or regularly offer a section of First-Year Seminar as part of their teaching responsibilities.
