Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Facility Maintenance Technician’s primary responsibility is to provide direct maintenance for the Student Recreation Center ( SRC ) to include daily upkeep and repair of all fitness equipment, and daily maintenance of both the indoor and outdoor pool. Additional responsibilities include assisting with general maintenance at the Student Recreation Center ( SRC ) to include general upkeep and repairs of the SRC and related recreational/sports equipment. The Facility Maintenance Technician reports directly to the Associate Director of Well-being and works closely with professional staff members from Fitness, Aquatics and Facilities.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Minimum of 2 years experience in the repair and upkeep of fitness equipment, general repair and maintenance background.
Possess general knowledge of related tools and equipment necessary to complete tasks associated with general maintenance, repair and preventative maintenance involving motors, belts, gears, and electrical/digital components, etc. and minor carpentry.
Possess PC computer training with experience in the following programs/area: Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and the Internet.
Ability to manage assigned tasks to student maintenance staff.
Ability to multi-task and complete projects in a timely manner.
Preferred education, professional skills and experience
Certificate, Associates Degree, 2 year or 4 year college degree in mechanical and/or pool systems (or related area), with demonstration of applicable experience.
Possess general knowledge of repairing fitness (cardio and strength) equipment and creating and implementing preventative maintenance schedules for fitness equipment.
Experience with aquatic facility upkeep (including knowledge and application of chemicals and related dispensing methods. (may be acquired after hire).
Experience with software utilized in the department (Connect2, Fitness Asset Manager, DoSportsEasy) (may be trained after hire).
Required Certifications or licensure
Valid Driver’s License
Certified Pool Operator ( CPO ) and/or Aquatic Facility Operator ( AFO ) certifications (may be acquired after hire).
Advanced fitness (i.e. Precor Authorized Service Technician) certificates (may be acquired after hire).
