Job Description Summary

Responsible for the intake, advising, registration, assessment, placement of current or potential students. Collecting and reporting student data in support of the data and assessment policies, procedures and requirements of the Adult Education Program as mandated by the federal Department of Education Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education ( OCTAE ) and the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing & Regulations ( DLLR ) at the Program’s campus and off-campus instructional sites in Prince George’s County.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Four to five years of related experience or required coursework/ certification and or specialized skills/ training.
  3. Or a combination of relevant higher education and experience.

CRITERIA : The following criteria, which are not the sole criteria used in the final hiring decision, will be used to review the applications of those persons who meet the stated minimum qualifications and to select those qualified applicants who will be interviewed. Other information and observations made during the interview process may be considered in the selection process.   1. Attend ongoing standardized assessment and/or student data collection/entry training as approved for use in Adult Education Title II programs by DLLR and OCTAE .
  2. Administer and proctor those standardized assessment instruments, paper and/or online, to new and prospective students including oral, listening, reading, writing and/or math assessments.
  3. Maintain ongoing knowledge and familiarity of those approved standardized student assessment and data instruments.
  4. Proficient in Excel including data entry, spreadsheet modification, familiarity and understanding of formulas.
  5. Ensure accuracy of data collection according to OCTAE and DLLR standards for Title II programs.
  6. Maintain familiarity with program policies and procedures to ensure uniform enforcement at all instructional sites.
  7. Verify and ensure the accuracy and completion of the entry of student data into spreadsheets and/or database according to OCTAE and DLLR standards.
  8. Monitor paper data during intake/entry and flag problems.
  9. Communicate and collaborate with the Adult Education program office.
  10. Maintain thorough knowledge of the Program’s rules, procedures, processes, and other related programs in order to accurately respond to students’ questions
  11. Screen students for eligibility according to OCTAE and DLLR and rules for Adult Education Title II programs.
  12. Assist students in the completion of the Program’s enrollment form.
  13. Deliver Program’s orientation to prospective students.
  14. Advise students on all appropriate class and educational options available based on the outcome of their assessment(s) in order to meet their needs, goals, and preferences.
  15. Provide referrals to students to appropriate related programs and partnerships.
  16. Provide a consistent, warm and welcoming approach to the reception of all students.
  17. Possess cultural sensitivity to meet the diverse needs of adult learners in the multicultural community.
  18. Act as a resource for the Adult Education community through the collection and collating of resources available from partner organizations.
  19. Perform other related duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

  1. Must be available to work Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Work schedule subject to change based on the needs of the department.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  3. As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
