Job Summary

The individual selected for this position will lead field work (i.e., electrofishing, setting nets) on rivers and reservoirs in Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas working on current and future research projects. Additionally, the person in this position will assist in laboratory work such as otolith preparation and fish aging.

This is a one-year limited term position. Continuation will be contingent upon availability of funding.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Lead data and samples collection efforts in the field, including conducting routine field investigations related to funded research projects and assisting with logistical considerations regarding equipment, materials, and labor needs; assist PI in developing a fish aging protocol; assist with training technicians and students; record, compile, process, and analyze data and samples from routine scientific investigations that are summarized for reports; maintain and repair laboratory and field equipment such as microscopes, electrofishing boats, boat motors, trailers, and trucks; and perform other duties as assigned.

Research Associate I: Master’s degree in discipline appropriate to position and no experience
Pay Range: $31,300 – $52,100

Research Associate II: Master’s degree in discipline appropriate to the position and 2 years of relevant experience in research practices and protocols.
Pay Range: $35,000 – $58,400

Research Associate III : Master’s degree in discipline appropriate to the position and 4 years of relevant experience in research practices and protocols.
Pay Range: $39,300 – $65,500
