The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Houston (UH) invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured all-ranks faculty position beginning in Fall 2021. Senior candidates with exceptional background and experience may be considered for the Kalsi Endowed Professorship while junior candidates who are emerging leaders will be considered for junior fellowships such as the Bill Cook Endowment and the David Zimmerman Endowment.

Particular emphasis is in the broad area of materials science and engineering. Mechanical behavior of materials, additive manufacturing, soft matter, metamaterials and multifunctional materials are particular areas of emphasis although all contemporary topics in materials science and engineering are of interest. Successful candidates must hold an earned doctorate in an appropriately related field by the time their appointment begins. They are expected to establish a dynamic and internationally recognized research program, and to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Furthermore, they must have demonstrated an ability to conduct outstanding independent research and show promise for excellent teaching, mentoring and entrepreneurship. Qualifications :

Applicants must have earned a PhD in a relevant area of engineering of physical sciences. Successful applicants must demonstrate a strong record of scholarship, and external funding, as well as a commitment to teaching.
