About the Opportunity:
The Talent Program Manager will oversee the development, coordination, and scaling of the Roux Venture Lab's Startup Talent Programs at the Roux Institute in Portland, Maine. He/She reports directly to the Director of Entrepreneurship. The Talent Program Manager is integral in creating and delivering a world-class program that connects the Roux Venture Lab portfolio companies with top caliber talent that enables them to grow. A key piece of the role will be overseeing, iterating on, and scaling the Roux Innovation Associates Program. The Innovation Associate program is a one-year career development program for aspiring entrepreneurs, innovators, and community builders that immerses recent alumni in the Maine startup ecosystem with a goal of retaining Innovation Associates in Maine post program completion. The Roux Innovation Associates are creative, innovative, and entrepreneurially minded professionals who engage with resident ventures on multiple short-term projects while engaging in a self-discovery process to develop into effective, emotionally intelligent business leaders.

Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive Innovation Associates recruitment strategy; promote program and recruit Innovation Associates throughout Northeastern's and partner universities' alumni networks
  • Partner with career and experiential learning teams across the Northeastern network to create a comprehensive onboarding and community-building program aligned with Northeastern's signature strengths in experiential learning
  • Facilitate small group and one-on-one coaching on relevant career topics
  • Coordinate events and activities that connect Innovation Associates with network partners and provide Fellows with exposure to the benefits of living and working in Maine
  • Scope potential, develop infrastructure, and scale program as part of the Venture Lab's long-term strategy
  • Assess and analyze program impact and learning by Innovation Associates in conjunction with the Center for Advancing Teaching and Learning through Research (CATLR) and other internal partners
  • Develop and manage programs to connect startups with our broader partners
  • Develop and manage a talent connection event to connect Maine Startups with top caliber talent
  • Develop and Manage relationships with Mentor Networks in order to provide our portfolio ventures with connections to the best mentors and advisors

    Qualifications:
    A bachelor's degree or its academic equivalent is required, master's degree preferred, and a minimum of six years of professional work experience. Experience in higher education (admissions, advising, career services) or corporate learning and development with emphasis as a career coach, certification preferable.

    The candidate should possess prior experience working at a startup, accelerator, incubator or in a corporate innovation function.

    This position requires strong project management and short- and long-term planning skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal, career development and coaching skills are required with strong commitment to the success of all stakeholders. Ability to develop and maintain long-term, mutually beneficial relationships is essential.

    Candidate must have experience working with diverse stakeholders and a demonstrated commitment to achieving and maintaining diversity in the workplace; a strong orientation towards collaboration and teamwork is essential.

    The candidate must possess strong technology competency, exercise critical thinking skills and sound judgment; be detail oriented and easily manage competing priorities.

    An ability and willingness to work evening and weekend hours is required.
