Scope of Job:
The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) invites applications for a non-tenure-track lecturer position in computer engineering. The position is a three-year appointment, renewable based on favorable annual evaluations. This position with the ECE Department will be based on the Edinburg campus.

Candidates with significant industrial experience will be considered for an Assistant Professor in Practice title

UTRGV faculty will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to student success and to advancing the university, college, and program missions. Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Master of Science in Computer Engineering degree or higher degree in computer engineering or related area from an accredited university.

At least three years of demonstrated full-time teaching excellence in a computer engineering program.


Discipline Specific Required Qualifications:
All candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to teaching and may also advise students and supervise or develop teaching laboratories. Of particular interest is a candidate who can teach digital systems, assembly language, C++ language, and computer engineering lab; however, excellent candidates in any technical area within the field of computer engineering and computer science will be considered.


Preferred Qualification:
Doctoral degree preferred. Industry or teaching experience also preferred. Prefer broad background with ability to teach across most of undergrad curriculum.

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 as the first major public university of the 21st century in Texas. This transformative initiative provided the opportunity to expand educational opportunities in the Rio Grande Valley, including a new School of Medicine, and made it possible for residents of the region to benefit from the Permanent University Fund - a public endowment contributing support to the University of Texas System and other institutions.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may
require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is
performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code
§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of
Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
