Position Summary:
The Engineering Management program at the Arkansas State University (A-STATE), Jonesboro invites outstanding candidates to apply for the non-tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Engineering Management within the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CoECS). The position is for a nine-month renewable contract with opportunities for summer teaching beginning in Fall 2021.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- As Assistant Professor in Engineering Management (EM), the successful candidate is expected to teach a variety of in-class and online Engineering Management courses, including design courses, advise and mentor EM students, serve on various committees, and administer comprehensive finals
- The successful candidate should be qualified to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Applicants should be able to teach in-class and online undergraduate and graduate courses in Engineering Management, advise students, participate in assessment activities, and participate in service activities within the CoECS. In particular, the successful candidate should expect to be involved in recruitment and retention activities at the program, college, and university levels

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance
Applicants should expect to maintain a teaching and office hours
schedule within regular business hours and may be required to teach
some evening courses

This hire comes at an exciting time when responding to the needs of
the stakeholders in the region, several disciplines – Computer
Science, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, Engineering Management and Engineering Technology –
were brought together in a new College of Engineering and Computer
Science (CoECS). Led by a new dean who assumed his role July 1,
2019, the college is on an ambitious growth trajectory that
includes upgrade of student and faculty spaces, emphasis on the
student experience, professional development of faculty, emphasis
on excellent teaching and research, and very proactive engagement
with the external community
The university is in the delta region of the state of Arkansas,
which is home to a thriving private sector that engages in
development of computer software tools, materials handling,
manufacturing to name a few. An exciting development is the
founding of a new and unique Center of No Boundary Thinking that
seeks to promote research and development of Artificial
Intelligence in different sectors of the economy and society. The
new hire will be a part of an outstanding CoECS team to take the
college to greater heights of achievement in the years to come
Minimum Qualifications:
An earned Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial Engineering,
Engineering Management or a closely related discipline is
required
Industry experience is preferred but not required
