Our goal in the College of Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is to become and be recognized as a national leader in fostering inclusion, equity and diversity, and to inspire change across the nation.

To achieve this goal, the College of Engineering seeks a dynamic professional to serve in the role of Associate Dean for Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity, to lead the creation of a new College of Engineering office of Inclusion, Equity and Diversity in Engineering and to help realize the vision of an environment that enables all faculty, staff, students, and guests to learn, innovate, create, and achieve their potential.

As a member of the College of Engineering leadership team, the successful candidate will report to the Dean, and will create strategy and lead a team that advances the institutional vision and mission for inclusion, equity and diversity among the undergraduate and graduate student groups, faculty and staff.

The successful candidate will demonstrate cultural awareness and agility, exercise emotional intelligence, build trust and credibility, collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders, and provide leadership. The successful candidate will also possess demonstrated maturity, leadership, scholarship and drive to advance the mission within a complex organization. The candidate will have experience and demonstrated success at creating an overarching strategic inclusion, equity, and diversity plan, one that includes recruitment and retention of underrepresented faculty, staff, and students of all statuses. The successful candidate will have the ability to collect and use data to assess the effectiveness of initiatives; outstanding organizational, problem-solving, and program development skills; in-depth, contemporary knowledge of the culture of higher education and the issues of access, inclusion, diversity, equity, and multiculturalism in a higher education setting; and the respect for and understanding of shared governance.
