Our goal in the College of Engineering at the University of
Wisconsin-Madison is to become and be recognized as a national
leader in fostering inclusion, equity and diversity, and to inspire
change across the nation.
To achieve this goal, the College of Engineering seeks a dynamic
professional to serve in the role of Associate Dean for Inclusion,
Equity, and Diversity, to lead the creation of a new College of
Engineering office of Inclusion, Equity and Diversity in
Engineering and to help realize the vision of an environment that
enables all faculty, staff, students, and guests to learn,
innovate, create, and achieve their potential.
As a member of the College of Engineering leadership team, the
successful candidate will report to the Dean, and will create
strategy and lead a team that advances the institutional vision and
mission for inclusion, equity and diversity among the undergraduate
and graduate student groups, faculty and staff.
The successful candidate will demonstrate cultural awareness and
agility, exercise emotional intelligence, build trust and
credibility, collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders, and
provide leadership. The successful candidate will also possess
demonstrated maturity, leadership, scholarship and drive to advance
the mission within a complex organization. The candidate will have
experience and demonstrated success at creating an overarching
strategic inclusion, equity, and diversity plan, one that includes
recruitment and retention of underrepresented faculty, staff, and
students of all statuses. The successful candidate will have the
ability to collect and use data to assess the effectiveness of
initiatives; outstanding organizational, problem-solving, and
program development skills; in-depth, contemporary knowledge of the
culture of higher education and the issues of access, inclusion,
diversity, equity, and multiculturalism in a higher education
setting; and the respect for and understanding of shared
governance.
This position is one of several positions in the professional area
of inclusion, equity and diversity that has been recently filled or
is being announced across the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
