University of New Haven

Associate/Full Professor of Healthcare Administration

and Program Director of Master of Healthcare Administration Program

Search # 20-31F

The Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program, based in the Department of Health Administration and Policy in the School of Health Sciences at the University of New Haven, is seeking to hire a full time tenure-track faculty member. This faculty member will serve as the Program Director of the MHA Program. Preferred areas of specialization are open. This is a position to be filled for Fall 2021.

The Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program is one of the oldest in the region with a long and successful history of training healthcare leaders in Southern New England. Modern Healthcare has ranked the University of New Haven MHA as the 9th largest on-ground CAHME accredited healthcare administration programs in the US. The program earned CAHME Accreditation in November 2018 and will complete its re-accreditation in Spring 2021. The MHA Program is the only CAHME Accredited program in Connecticut and one of 4 programs in all of New England.

The MHA program operates three discrete programs: a traditional on-ground program, an executive-style cohort-based corporate program with Yale New Haven Health System, and a fully online MHA launching in Spring 2021.

The program has 6 full-time and 12 adjunct faculty teaching in the program and is supported by an Assistant Director. More than 140 students are enrolled in the program both full- and part-time and enrollment is expected to grow significantly in the next few years. The program has a strong history of quality internships and job placements with over 800 program alumni at work in a wide range of institutions around the country and internationally. The program is seeking a colleague qualified to direct the MHA Program who can effectively develop and execute a vision for the program as it grows and matures as a program seeking national recognition in the field. The ideal candidate for this position will be effective at strategic planning, academic assessment, and student-focused leadership. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of and ability to teach in one of the 5 core domains of healthcare management.
