Position Summary:

The UW Madison Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Center (SCRMC) operates under the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education (OVCRGE). The SCRMC provides a central point of contact, information and facilitation for all stem cell research activities on campus. The Center's mission is to advance the science of stem cell biology and foster breakthroughs in regenerative medicine through faculty interactions, research support and education. Dr. Timothy Kamp (Department of Medicine) is director of the Center and directly supervises this position.

This position is responsible for maintaining communication efforts on behalf of the SCRMC including maintaining an up-to-date website and social media outlets; writing articles and production of newsletters/annual reports; responding to media queries; and supporting general operation of SCRMC. This position reports directly to the Director and works closely with Associate Director and Administration Specialist.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Science Journalism or Communications

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Relevant course work and/or experience in a science communications position preferred

Additional Information:

The ideal candidate should have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, organizational and management skills.

Experience in planning, research, writing, layout, graphic design and production of publication materials, and web sites preferred.

Experience with multiple software applications, publishing and web development software required.

Demonstrate editorial skills, attention to detail, and an ability to identify effective graphic design, layout, and formatting, as well as a competency in digital photography.

Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with professional staff of diverse backgrounds and work creatively and productively under pressure.
