Overview
Employment Status: Full-Time, Hourly, non-exempt position.

Work Schedule: This is a regular, full-time, hourly position. Willingness to work a flexible schedule as necessary in order to respond to emergency/urgent situations is required. This may include working extended hours, evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

General Purpose: Under the direction of the Santos Manuel Student Union Assistant Director of Diversity and Inclusion, the Santos Manuel Student Union Women's Resource Center Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing programs and initiatives to meet the diverse needs for the Womxn identified students on campus as well as supervising student staff, managing the WRC, and collaborating with campus partners to directly support the success of Womxn identified students at CSUSB. In addition, the WRC coordinator has the responsibility of ensuring the success of the Women's Resource Center by providing comprehensive multi-cultural opportunities that promote education, and awareness while celebrating all cultural heritages for CSUSB students. The Women's Resource Center Coordinator is an integral member of a hard-working team comprised of full-time and part-time staff within the Santos Manuel Student Union. The Women's Resource Center Coordinator shall demonstrate the ability to work effectively with a diverse population of program members, guests, and staff.

Typical Activities
Primary Functions:
  • Coordinates all programs, services, and administrative functions for the WRC
  • Supervise student staff and manage the WRC
  • Promote and assist in the development of policies, procedures, and programs that assure the well-being and development of our Womxn identifying students, affirm human dignity, and champion cultural pluralism across campus.
  • Provide operational leadership for the coordination of multicultural and international related co-curricular programming, including but not limited Women's History month, Women's Leadership Conference, Vagina Monologues, Internationals Women's day, Sexual Assault Awareness month, and semester programs for the WRC.
  • Support the assistant director with an assessment of all programs including developing an annual report for the department
  • Coordinate and advance the dialogue around race, gender, and sexual orientation through campus programs and conversation.
  • Develop and maintain a robust team of trained student and staff facilitators, facilitate programming in and out of the classroom, and engage in education and training.
  • Support the assistant director with fiscal management for the WRC and monitor budgets as appropriate.
  • Prepares annual budget requests and quarterly budget requests for centers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Customer Service and Collaboration
  • Knows the mission and goals of the Santos Manuel Student Union and commits to achieving them.
  • Ensures SMSU customer service guidelines are met by all staff in department.
  • Ensures department guidelines are established and met by all staff in department
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with campus partners, off-campus partners and other university's employees.


Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in higher education, social justice education, counseling, student affairs, or a related program is required.
Experience:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles and practices of student development and theory, social justice education, and the needs of diverse populations in higher education is required.
  • One (1) - Two (2) years of experience working with college students required, ideally in a student development or advising capacity.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Student supervision experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must have strong English language skills and the ability to read, write, and verbally communicate at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and ability to learn and utilize new software programs
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and work well with part-time and full-time staff.
  • Ability to take the initiative for additional projects and be self-motivated to initiate interactions with guests.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work effectively in a dynamic environment, and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to manage information flow (including internal and external communication).
  • Ability to initiate collaborative work with diverse students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and be accurate
  • Ability to demonstrate thoroughness, completeness, follow through on presentation and appearance of work.
  • Demonstrated Experience in student program development, budget management, and contract negotiations.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence the creation, implementation, and management of a balanced array of programs which reflect students' interests and educational needs.
  • Proven ability to assess program impact on student learning, including use of quantitative and qualitative data.
Licenses & Certifications:
  • First Aid and CPR/AED certification required (certifications may be obtained within the first month of employment).

  • Supervises the WRC Student Assistants
