Chapman University and Dodge College of Film and Media Arts seek
applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position in
Screenwriting in its nationally recognized Dodge College of Film
and Media Arts beginning August 2021.

Dodge College offers both BFA and MFA degrees in screenwriting. The
screenwriting program is housed within the Film Division, and the
screenwriting curriculum also supports the development of material
for films produced by film production students; a focus on
storytelling binds together the many programs in Dodge College. The
curriculum’s aim is to help students develop their individual
creative voices as they gain a working knowledge of the many and
challenging elements of the screenplay form. Students will learn to
write in a variety of formats, including short film, feature film
and episodic television.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have teaching experience, a degree
in screenwriting or a related area (terminal degree preferred),
and/or significant professional experience as a screenwriter. The
successful candidate will be committed to teaching first as well as
to continuing his or her own professional work.
Applicants considered for the rank of associate are expected to
have a history of excellence in teaching and or creative works.
Responsibilities
Faculty duties include teaching both theory and practice in introductory and advanced courses, academic advising, program development and service to the school and university. The teaching load is 18 to 21 credits per academic year, in addition to continued professional work and/or research and scholarship.
