The Department of Graphic Design and Industrial Design in the College of Design at North Carolina State University seeks applicants for a full-time tenure-track position in the Graphic Design Program at the rank of Assistant Professor with an emphasis on User Experience Design (UXD), Emerging Media, or Interaction Design (IxD). 

Join our team of whole-hearted collaborators as we reinvent undergraduate and graduate design education for the twenty-first century. Our multidisciplinary department, housed inside a top tier Research-I university, avidly intersects with other disciplines such as education, the social sciences, healthcare, data informatics, computer science, and machine learning. The College has a nationally-recognized record for faculty research, teaching, and service. Faculty are expected to develop innovative, inclusive, and interdisciplinary initiatives both inside and outside the College that support the university’s mission as a flagship, land-grant institution. 

Successful candidates will demonstrate a deep curiosity in emerging technologies, speculative design methods, and/or novel approaches to traditional methods. Candidates must hold, at minimum, a terminal Master’s degree (MGD/MDes/MFA) in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Experience Design, or other design-related area and be eager to teach students at multiple levels, from Foundations to Masters. We seek applicants whose demonstrated commitment to inclusion and excellence in teaching, research, professional activities, and service will make them vital contributors to a shared curricular vision.
