The English Department at the University of Michigan expects to make a tenure-track, assistant professor appointment in the field of 20th- to 21st-century poetry, drama, and/or performance to begin in September, 2018. We take an expansive view of these fields and welcome work that stretches or crosses boundaries of history, genre, method, discipline, region, and canonicity. This is a university-year appointment.
Applicants should use the link below to submit a cover letter, CV, statement of current and future research plans, statement of teaching philosophy and experience, a writing sample, and three letters of reference by September 28th. The English Department is committed to the core values of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and we encourage all applicants to comment, either in the cover letter or in a separate statement on how their research, teaching, and/or service experience will enhance our efforts to support these values and the needs of an increasingly diverse student population.
The University of Michigan is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer and is supportive of the needs of dual career couples. Women and minority candidates are encouraged to apply. All applications will be acknowledged.
