Summary
Baylor College of Medicine’s (BCM) Joseph Barnhart Department of Orthopedic Surgery and the BCM Faculty Group Practice (FGP) are seeking to hire a full-time, board-certified, fellowship trained foot and ankle surgeon at the academic rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
This position includes:
• An established Orthopedic Surgery Department and Foot and Ankle Surgery Division which are dedicated to professional growth and advancement of its faculty
• A dynamic patient-focused clinical practice that offers sub- specialty care in all areas of orthopedics and musculoskeletal service line integration
• A new specialty-focused patient care environment at the McNair Campus (opening Spring 2019) within the Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center

Job Responsibilities:
Position Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement plans to ensure comprehensive, timely, and high quality patient care services with maximum operating efficiency.
• Participate in college, hospital, and community outreach activities to promote the Department, Division, and BCM.
• Ensure safe and effective care to patients adhering to policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and accuracy of practice.
• Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency
• Provide orthopedic call coverage for Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center
• Support department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization.
• Serve as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced faculty, staff, and learners.
• Attend required department, college, and hospital professional meetings.
Job Qualifications:
Position Qualifications:
• Medical degree from an accredited medical school.
• License to practice medicine in the State of Texas.
• Completion of orthopedic surgery residency training and foot and ankle fellowship training from programs certified by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or equivalent.
• Board Certified/Eligible by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery
Desired Qualifications:
• Demonstrated expertise in the care of foot and ankle injuries and disoders, and experience providing medical care within an academic setting or equivalent practice.
• Willingness to provide orthopedic call coverage within the Baylor St. Lukes Medcial Center
• Desire to teach residents, medical students, and other learners
• Willingness and ability to utilize an electronic medical record, EPIC preferred.
• Evidence of effective communication skills in a collaborative group practice environment.
