Position Function:

The Department of Agricultural & Biological Engineering at Mississippi State University invites applications for a tenure track, 9-month or 12-month, assistant professor position in the area of agricultural and biosystems engineering. Applicants should be clearly committed to excellence in teaching and be able to articulate a research program that has promise for sustainable external funding and national recognition. Candidates with experience and expertise in all areas of agricultural and biosystems engineering will be considered, but those with strengths in sensing, analytics, and/or robotics, particularly with a view to precision agriculture, are preferred. Department Profile:

The Department of Agricultural & Biological Engineering has 16 on-campus faculty and several adjunct/affiliate faculty off-campus within research centers and government agencies, engaged in teaching, research, and extension. The department is co-administered by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the Bagley College of Engineering and offers undergraduate (B.S.) and graduate (M.S. and Ph.D.) degrees in three distinct program areas: Biological Engineering, Biomedical Engineering and Agricultural Engineering Technology and Business. Within these programs, the department has over 500 undergraduates and over 30 graduate students. The J. Charles Lee Agricultural and Biological Engineering Building, includes more than 6,000 square feet of state-of-the-art instructional and research facilities, and includes separate labs for sterile tissue culture, biomechanical testing, environmental and agricultural simulation or modeling studies, electronic/robotic design fabrication and testing, fiber processing, GPS/GIS, renewable bio-energy, and student computing resources. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Candidates will be expected to teach in the Biological Engineering (BE) and Agricultural Engineering Technology and Business (AETB) curricula, conduct research, and advise undergraduate and graduate students. They must establish a strong record of research, teaching, and service.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Agricultural, Biological, or Biosystems Engineering, or equivalent in a closely related discipline, as well as excellent verbal and writing skills, are required. Applicant must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence, scholarly production, and grantsmanship and should have the ability to conduct multi-disciplinary collaborative research.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with experience in precision ag, sensing, analytics or robotics are preferred.
