Job Description:

The Department of Biology at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Biology at the assistant professor rank to begin September 1, 2021. A physiologist is sought with a background that enables teaching human anatomy and physiology, exercise physiology, and biomechanics. An ability to teach additional electives in the individuals area of expertise, and a human-focused research program are preferred.

A Ph.D. is required by the start date for the position, and undergraduate teaching experience is strongly preferred. MCLA seeks a candidate committed to high quality teaching, undergraduate mentoring and advising, and a research program that involves undergraduates. The Biology Department is housed in a modern science building and maintains a small human performance lab.


Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate from an accredited institution of higher education by the start date for the position
  • Specialty in human biology, with an interest in teaching Human Anatomy & Physiology, Exercise Physiology, and Biomechanics.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship in a small liberal arts college environment
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse student and faculty groups
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


Preferred qualifications

  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate or community college level
  • Experience with education at a small liberal arts college
  • Intent to conduct research using human subjects
