Description
The University of Mary Hardin Baylor's Mayborn College of Health Sciences seeks qualified faculty for its new Public Health Program in the School of Exercise & Sport Science, to begin Fall 2021. This is a nine-month tenure-track position with initial appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, commensurate with experience. UMHB seeks faculty who are active Christians and dedicated teacher-scholars to prepare students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society.

The School of Exercise & Sport Science offers six undergraduate degree programs that include the B.S. in Health Science (Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Occupational Therapy, Pre-Physician Assistant, Pre-Medicine), the B.S. in Exercise Physiology, the B.S. & B.A. in Sport Management, the B.S. in Physical Education with teaching certification, and the B.S. in Public Health with a concentration in Health Promotion. Additionally, the School offers three graduate degrees that include a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology, a Master of Science in Sport Administration, and a Master of Public Health degree. Our goal is to engage students in a Christ-centered learning environment where they will develop the knowledge, skills, and inter-professional competencies to become leaders in the complex and dynamic environment of health sciences.
UMHB is conveniently located in Belton, a historic town of 22,000 in the heart of central Texas. Nearby cities are Temple (5 miles), Waco (45 miles), Austin (65 miles), San Antonio (130 miles) and Dallas/Ft. Worth (130 miles). Excellent schools, abundant cultural and recreational opportunities, and a high quality of life are hallmarks of the local community.

Faculty Responsibilities: Activities required of all faculty include exemplary teaching, curriculum development, student advising; professional attainment; and service to department, college, university, and the community.

Specific Responsibilities: This position includes teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in public health; advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students; participation in initial and continual accreditation; involvement in the program's admission process; and participating in departmental and university committees. The typical teaching load is 12 hours per semester. Other responsibilities may include supervision of students at practicum sites.
Qualifications: Doctorate in Public Health or related discipline from an accredited institution is required. ABD will be considered for one of these positions (tenure-track requires terminal degree in hand). Candidates with evidence of teaching repertoire in public health with an emphasis on health education and promotion are strongly encouraged to apply.

Excellent teaching and communication skills, a dedication to professional attainment, and commitment to quality improvement are essential. Must be an active, and committed Christian.

Preference will be given for any of the following certifications:
1) CHES (Certified Health Education Specialist)
2) MCHES (Master Certified Health Education Specialist)
3) CPH (Certificate in Public Health)
