The Arizona School of Health Sciences (ASHS), A.T. Still University (ATSU) seeks both an innovative and pragmatic leader as Chair of the Physical Therapy department to oversee four programs including the Doctor of Physical Therapy residential program, the Post Professional Physical Therapy Program (fully online) and two residencies, the Physical Therapy Orthopedic Residency and the Physical Therapy Neurologic Residency. The chairperson will join a dynamic interprofessional team of departmental chairs committed to new growth, innovation, interprofessional collaboration and evidence based practice models. The Department of Physical Therapy, comprised of 13 faculty members and three staff members, has a long history of providing excellent physical therapy education and most recently joined the Department of Occupational Therapy in developing and implementing the Center for Occupational and Physical Therapy, a campus clinic offering free services to individuals in the community while serving as an integrated clinical experience for students.
The Chairperson leads the strategic planning for the department, provides mentorship and scholarly development to faculty, oversees budget and fiscal management for the department, contributes consistently to the interprofessional strategic plan of the school, and has a teaching, scholarly and service agenda at the rank of associate or full professor. The Chairperson is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion with a commitment towards whole person health care and underserved communities and reports directly to the Dean.
Requirements include rank of Associate Professor or Professor, a PhD or EdD, Physical Therapy licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Arizona, and previous administrative experience at the level of academic program director or equivalent.
Previous experience with programmatic accreditation, university strategic planning committee work, diversity and inclusion initiatives, new program or program growth proposal development are highly recommended.
