Overview

The marketing manager is responsible for executing the strategy for, and daily maintenance of, Curtis’s social media, digital advertising, and branding goals around accessibility and awareness. Measurable outcomes for this position include increased engagement with prospective students, online audiences, and existing and new program participants. This position will be a power user of Curtis’s new Wordpress CMS, slated to launch in Spring 2021, and will be responsible for training appropriate staff members how to make content area updates. As needed, the marketing manager will participate in marketing research and product development projects for Curtis’s Performance Innovation Lab.

 

Essential Functions

  • Leverages owned media, advertising, SEO, and other digital means to achieve various brand building, enrollment, fundraising, programming, and ticket sales goals for Curtis
  • Understands and advocates for diverse constituent groups
  • Collaborates on the development of a seasonal marketing campaign calendar for key paid and free performances that comprise the Curtis performance season. Works closely with the director of constituent engagement and his team in this effort, recommending tactics and sourcing opportunities for innovative approaches. A typical performance season includes:
    • Paid performances (Curtis Symphony Orchestra, Curtis Opera Theatre, Curtis Presents, Family Concerts, and Ensemble 20/21)
    • Free performances (Recital Series, community performances)
    • Summer programming
    • Self-presented Curtis on Tour performances
  • Helps design and implement plans to market admissions opportunities
  • Works cross-departmentally to develop and support digital marketing efforts for educational programming, such as the Performance Innovation Lab
  • Communicates and monitors marketing priorities on shared Airtable media scheduling software
  • Oversees maintenance of and training for Curtis’s new Wordpress website
  • Project manages digital advertisements (third party graphic designers, contracts, deadlines, collateral, etc.), as appropriate
  • Assists with formatting and optimizing delivery of marketing assets including photography and videos
  • Tracks and analyzes social media and digital advertising efforts and results to inform transparent, data-driven strategies

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in digital marketing
  • Demonstrated success managing social media campaigns
  • Ability to communicate effectively via digital channels
  • Balance between attention to detail and quick production pace
  • Familiarity with interpreting marketing data analytics
  • Creative thinker and enthusiastic team player
  • Previous work in higher education or the performing arts, especially classical music, industries desired
  • Comfort with basic video editing a plus
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Google/YouTube Ads, Hootsuite, Airtable, Wordpress, HubSpot or similar competitor software a plus

Working Conditions

  • Primarily remote through 2021, within 150 miles of Philadelphia, PA (employee may need to travel to campus occasionally when safe to do so and is responsible for covering this expense)
