Position Summary:

The UW School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation is seeking an orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in orthopedics sports medicine. We are looking for candidates with a strong interest in research, teaching, and clinical care.

Principal Duties:

Duties will include provision of clinical care with a focus on sports medicine. Clinically, the incumbent will provide clinical care for UW Health sports medicine patients including pediatrics and adults. The incumbent will see patients at UW Health Research Park Clinic and at UW Health at The American Center Orthopedic Clinic.

Additionally, the incumbent will work with UW Athletic Department student-athletes providing pre-participation physicals, clinic coverage and team/event coverage. The incumbent may also provide team physician coverage to various sports teams in the region and/or provide medical support for sporting events in the area.

The incumbent will be expected to participate in department call coverage to include general orthopedics call for all UW Health clinical locations.

The incumbent will be expected to increase the sports medicine practice through referrals from the region and state; to participate in outreach activities via presentations and/or clinics at hospitals and medical centers throughout the state and region; to have an active role in the training and education of medical students, and residents and fellows in the area of sports medicine.

The successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of the UW School of Medicine and Public Health and UW Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

M.D. or D.O. in Orthopedic Surgery, Fellowship in Sports Medicine

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Completion of U.S.-based residency program in Orthopedic Surgery, and completion of a U.S.-based fellowship in Sports Medicine.

License or Certificate:

Board eligible or board certified in Orthopedic Surgery. Eligible for Wisconsin Medical License.

Additional Information:

This position will be a dual appointment with the UW Madison and UW Medical Foundation.

Candidates for Associate Professor (CHS) or Professor (CHS) must meet criteria for appointment at the rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the CHS track
